Safaatou showed up at CURE Niger after years of suffering from brittle bone disease. She had had so many micro-breaks in her legs that they had slowly deformed and bent – forcing her to use a crutch when she walked. It wasn’t an easy way to get around, but it was her only option.

Now, brittle bone disease isn’t a curable disease, but the effects can be mitigated. The CURE Niger doctors were able to straighten Safaatou’s legs and reinforce her bones with metal rods, strengthening them and reducing the number of breaks she has to endure.
Today, Safaatou can stand upright and walk and go about her life unassisted and with SO MUCH more confidence and joy!
